What is an open auction?

An open auction sources machines from multiple locations across North America, allowing a wide range of buyers to bid on listed equipment within a defined timeframe, creating competitive pricing through bidding.

What is a facility auction?

A facility auction involves selling all or most equipment from a manufacturing facility, often due to closure, downsizing, relocation, or surplus.

Who can participate in open auctions?

Buyers, dealers, and resellers can all participate, depending on auction terms set by the seller or auctioneer.

Are open auctions limited to certain machine types?

No. Open auctions may include CNC machines, fabrication equipment, tooling, and other industrial assets.

How do buyers place bids?

Bidding is handled through MTB and BidSpotter, as MTB is the only platform that is dual synced. You can bid on MTB’s auction platform or on Bidspotter’s. The platform provides visibility and access to auction details, and increased visibility due to leveraging both sites.

What Are Machine Auctions?

Machine auctions are platforms where equipment like CNC machines, fabrication tools, plastics, and aerospace machinery are bought and sold through bidding. The highest bidder wins and completes the purchase at the final price.

Why choose an open auction instead of a fixed price?

Open auctions can help sellers maximize value by increasing visibility and allowing market demand to determine pricing. Auctions also put urgency in the market as the machine will be sold on a specific date. Also, if sellers are in need of immediate space, auctions are the fastest way to free up space.

When are the open auctions?

Open auctions are the second and last Wednesday of each month.  Single facility events happen throughout any given month and various dates.

How are facility auctions promoted?

Facility auctions are promoted to targeted buyers searching for machine tool auctions, through targeted email campaigns, third party auction promoters, search and display campaigns, and social media campaigns, increasing visibility among dealers, end users, and resellers.

Can I sell equipment individually instead of at auction?

Yes. Sellers can choose between auction formats or direct listings depending on timeline, pricing goals, and equipment type.

Do facility auctions attract serious buyers?

Yes! Facility auctions attract qualified buyers actively looking for used CNC machines, fabrication equipment, and shop assets at competitive prices.

Timed Auctions

The first lot will start closing at 11am CST, unless noted otherwise. Lots will have extended time as users continue to bid on lots. Once the auction closes invoices will be sent and payment is due within 48 hours.

Live Webcast

This will have a live auctioneer going through each lot, calling out the item and price increments, lots will continue until closed. Once the auction closes invoices will be sent and payment is due within 48 hours.

How do I register to bid for an online auction with MTB?

To register for an auction on the MTB platform you need to create a general Machine Tool Bids account. This general account allows you to easily view photos, get quotes, send messages and view any save listings. This account will also be your credentials to register for each auction you chose to participate in.

Mike Youngman at Machinetoolbids.com was great. He worked out the sale of our robotic welder, and we got a fair price. I would sell equipment through their auction process again.

We had the pleasure working with Aaron @ Machine Tool Bids, on selling one of our bigger expensive machines. Being in Canada and Aaron in the US I had my doubts but everything went smoothly from beginning to end. Aaron mostly did all the work and found us a buyer very quickly. Responded to messages and emails promptly. We would definitely work with Machine Tools and Aaron again in the future.

Worked with Aaron here to pickup a used machine. Sale and delivery went through great. We ran into some technical issues while we were setting up. His team handled everything and took the time to troubleshoot and help us resolve the issues until we were up and running.

Buyer Testimonial

I am super happy with the customer service, and communication. I am a small fry in a big fish pan, and my purchase was pennies in comparison to the other lots they sell. The service and help I got was like I was buying the whole warehouse. They went above and beyond any expectation, and past any responsibilities or obligations they had. Guided me through importing processes and arranged shipping.
Beyond just kind, cordial, and helpful, but a role model for customer service. My experience with everyone I personally dealt with was exceptional. Thanks again for everything!!
Extra cudos to Victoria, and Olivia for babysitting my inexperience!!!

Buyer Testimonial

I desperately needed to make space in my 2 machine shops by selling surplus equipment. I contacted Aaron at MTB and even though the number of machines available were not many, he was able to gather other companies in the same situation and assembled a well organized multi-location Auction. Aaron and his support team worked rigorously to make sure my equipment was sold and transferred on time and on schedule. I am impressed with Machine Tool Bids with their work ethics and buyer and seller’s requirements.
